Taxes Simply #15 – UAE and Oman on Europe’s tax haven blacklist, plus Algeria’s (non?) economic uprising
- We begin with our news roundup of the most important tax news from the region and the world, including: the World Bank is now subject to prosecution after 74 years of judicial immunity, civil society organisations send a letter to the World Bank urging it to prioritise the fight against climate change, and protests against taxes and inflation break out in the besieged Gaza Strip
- In the second section, Walid ben Rhouma talks with Osama Diab about the inclusion of the UAE and Oman in the European Union’s tax haven blacklist
- In the third and last section, Walid ben Rhouma asks Algerian economic analyst Mohamed Cherif Belmihoub whether the uprising in Algeria has an economic dimension to it
الجباية ببساطة #١٥ – الإمارات وعمان في قائمة أوروبا السوداء وحراك الجزائر “اللااقتصادي؟”
أهلا بكم في العدد الخامس عشر من الجباية ببساطة. في القسم الأول من هذا العدد نلقي الضوء على بعض أخبار الضرائب والاقتصاد المتفرقة والتي تشمل: 1- خضوع البنك الدولي للمحاكمة بعد ٧٤ سنة من الحصانة القضائية. ٢- منظمات مجتمع مدني ترسل خطابا للبنك الدولي لحثه على إعطاء الأولوية للتغير المناخي. ٣- مظاهرات ضد الضرائب والغلاء في قطاع غزة المحاصر.
يجري وليد بن رحومة في القسم الثاني حوارا مع أسامة دياب عن ضم الإمارات العربية المتحدة وعمان لقائمة الاتحاد الأوروبي السوداء للملاذات الضريبية، وفي القسم الثالث من البرنامج يطرح بن رحومة أسئلة على محمد شريف بن ميهوب، المحلل الاقتصادي الجزائري، عما إذا كانت احتجاجات الجزائر لها بعد اقتصادي.
