About the role

The Tax Justice Network is seeking a consultant producer to establish a new monthly podcast/radio programme for audiences in India and Pakistan. Each show will cover global and regional corruption challenges, drawing on Tax Justice Network solutions-based research and analysis. The podcast will be mainly in English (plus potentially some Urdu or Hindi).

Our existing suite of monthly podcasts in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Arabic are all independently produced by different teams. Our podcasts engage listeners on vital challenges around fair taxation and financial secrecy. They aim to fill the knowledge gap and lack of good media coverage of tax, redistribution, financial secrecy and corruption. They empower citizens to engage in and influence debates on these issues, provide the solutions needed to support change and hold governments to account.

As well as being available for download on podcast apps, our podcasts are free to radio stations to broadcast. With our new podcast we hope to appeal to a wide listenership to support an empowered, informed citizenry with take-up by radio stations in India and Pakistan. Our current podcasts also reach key influencers such as journalists, researchers, bloggers, tax and corruption experts, lawyers, policymakers, politicians, governments, campaigners and NGOs.

You don’t have to be specialised in this area but experience in the field of economic justice and tax justice is a big advantage. You will need to follow our research closely and convert our ideas and solutions-focused work into a listenable, accessible monthly podcast. You will be proactive, creative, self-motivated, full of ideas and have a passion for tax justice, economic and social justice. If you can produce and host, even better. We would ideally like to see two hosts for this podcast, one from India and one from Pakistan. We’re open to your ideas!

About the Tax Justice Network

The Tax Justice Network is an independent international organisation dedicated to high- level research, analysis and advocacy around international tax and financial regulation. We analyse and explain the harmful impacts of tax evasion, tax avoidance and tax competition, and support the engagement of citizens, civil society organisations and policymakers towards a more just tax system.

We pursue systemic changes that address the international inequality in the distribution of taxing rights between countries; the national inequalities that arise from poor tax policies; and the obstacles to progressive national tax policies and effective financial regulation. The Tax Justice Network is supported by grants from Norad, the European Union, Open Society Foundations and others. We are a virtual organisation, with staff working from home across multiple countries and continents.

  • Explaining taxation, financial secrecy, tax havens, corporate tax abuse and economic justice in accessible ways
  • Becoming familiar with the Tax Justice Network’s solutions-based approaches and research, able to communicate them and ensure the programme is on-message and accessible. We will, of course, support you with this.

Ideally you would be responsible for the entire production, but we are open to discussing different arrangements.
